How are values and attitudes related to job performance & satisfaction? What can employers do to increase job satisfaction by addressing their employee's values and attitudes?

Values and attitudes play crucial roles in influencing job performance and satisfaction. One such aspect of the job that can related these topics is alignment, more specifically those of the company with those of the employees. When an individual's values align with the organization's values, they are more likely to feel a sense of belonging and commitment, leading to higher job satisfaction and performance. Also, motivation can play a major part in performance and satisfaction that managers or leaders can affect. For example, if an individual values achievement, they are likely to set high goals and work diligently to achieve them, positively affecting their job performance. Furthermore, grasping employees' motivations and knowing what leads them into performing highly around others can lead to those who go above and beyond for their organization.

Employers can take several strategic actions to increase job satisfaction by addressing their employees' values and attitudes. One such aspect is establishing clear communication of their values and what employees should expect out of their position. Clearly communicating the organization's core values and mission to employees ensures these values are consistently reflected in company policies and practices. This can allow employers to avoid any transparency issues about responsibilities employees will take on and allow for better understanding of their roles. Respect and trust are another action that employers can do to increase job satisfaction by addressing their employee's values and attitudes. Creating a culture of mutual respect and trust can encourage open and honest communication at all levels of the organization. I have been able to see this as both a student and an athlete where culture and respect have improved over years of dedicated members from an organization. Finally, training and development is an initial step to increase job satisfaction by addressing their employee's values and attitudes. Offering continuous learning and development opportunities can help provide stable career development resources and clear career progression paths. This can allow organizations to promote within and show employees the trust and opportunities that they have with that company,

Cultures, values, and attitudes are very intermingled with an employees satisfaction and job performance. We spend a great deal of our time at work. When a company's culture and value doesn't align with a person it can become create inner turmoil and conflict. This leads to a slew of issues. The person may feel as they don't belong on part of their team, they aren't valued at the company, and there may be moral/ value misalignment. The list goes on, but the most important take away is that when someone feels out of touch with their company, it makes it very difficult to want to show up and give it their best effort every day. This is how company culture and values hinder job performance. It can lead to dissatisfaction and lack of motivation.

Regular touch points with employees is a great take to take a company pulse. Where do they stand, what is bothering them, what more do they need to successfully do their job as feel like they are a valuable member of the team? Initially, I think keeping an open line of communication is vital. Although, addressing any issues that arise takes a bit more work. After the conversation there needs to be follow up and corrective action, if possible. There won't be remedy for every unhappiness and employee has, but if the biggest issues can be resolved, there is a greater likelihood the employee with stay satisified and ideally remain with the organization.
