Major Changes in the s When Jack Davidson, a retired US Navy rear admiral, became CEO in the future of the privately held company looked bleak. The recession of had been severe. Further, the US apparel industry had been on a downward trajectory for two decadesDavidson had left the service looking for a new challenge in the private sector. He believed that JohnsonWare could capitalize on recent increases in military spending because of its expertise in apparel manufacturing. He created a twopronged survival strategy.
