On June 23rd, I had attended an one hour workshop that I found to practical and beneficial. This workshop was an "Impress Your Interviewer" worshop through OhioMeansJobs. I'm sure many job seekers are familiar with OhioMeansJobs since they provide job training and counseling services. In this workshop I didn't get to meet a bunch of people as I had hoped and perhaps it had to deal with the fact that it was online. However, I did meet one other girl who joined for similar reasons as I did, how to impress an interviewer. A few takeways that I'll touch upon are: what to bring, types of interviews, how to dress, and questions/answers. I had no idea on what I should actually bring to an interview, to my suprise I learned it would be beneficial to bring a copy of the job description, your resume, any certifications, and questions for the interviwer. Next, it's important to know the type of interview (phone, zoom, real-life) because that'll set the tone and atmosphere that way you can plan accordingly. With dressing, you always want to dress a step above your position to show professionalism. Finally, you want to answer questions with criteria based off the job you are applying to, so stay relevant. Overall an interview is a run to see if a company is willing to invest you, so be be professional, be relevent, and be authentic.
