Problem 2
Our footing from above is cured enough to form and place our 22" thick retaining wall. For
this problem, please consider the volume of reinforcing steel negligible.
The top of footing elevation after being as-built was determined to be 35.028'. Our new
wall centerline is to be offset 12" from the center of the footing. The top of wall elevation
on one end of the wall is designed to be elevation 55' and slopes to elevation 51.5' at the
opposite end of the wall. The wall length is 64' long. What is the volume of concrete
required for the wall placement assuming 7% waste? We will be pumping the concrete and
will need to prime the pump (assume 1.5 cy ), and we will be pulling 8 wheelbarrows of
concrete measuring 8 cu ft each for concrete testing.
2A) Sketch the cross section of the wall and footing on the provided graph paper,
show all dimensions and elevations
2B) Sketch the side view of the wall and footing on the provided graph paper, show
all dimensions and elevations
2C) Provide calculations on a separate piece of provided graph paper of the
concrete quantity to be ordered.
