Problem Setting Assignment:

In problem setting, you should analyze the case as a communication situation. First, identify the many communication exchanges that comprise the case. Although you dont need to be exhaustive, you should include all the dictated communication scenarios. For each exchange,

• List all communicators;
• Discuss their rhetorical objectives in the scenario;
• Discuss their power in the situationwhat power do they have or lack?
• Discuss any consequences for the person based upon the exchange.

After you have thoroughly analyzed the situation and discussed the embedded communication challenges, strategize a potential resolution (or resolutions). You know that you will need to resolve the central issue of the case study, so here you might start mapping out what that might look like. You dont need to compose a response or actually resolve the issue yet, but this is an opportunity to come up with a few ideas and get feedback on them from your peers.

Part 2:

Based on the analysis conducted in Part 1, strategize ways of effectively resolving the central problem in Case Study #1. You should provide at least a few sentences of description for each potential solution.

You necessarily need to make copies of your report. Your Challenge: Resolve the issue using an appropriate form of communication. You have some freedom in terms of how you handle this situation, but your response should take the form of a recognizable genre. Marjorie, who is dating your boss's daughter, keeps the keys for the copy room under lock down. You sent Marjorie an email asking to borrow the keys. She responded, letting you know that you could stop by her office to get them. However, when you arrived at her office to pick them up, she wasn't there. There was a "be right back" note on the door, but after waiting for over twenty minutes, you left. Note: Part of your resolution can involve an in-person conversation, but for the purposes of this assignment, there also needs to be a written/textual component. You can explore your options in the problem setting assignment. You sent her a follow-up email, inquiring about what happened and asking when you should come back for the keys. She has not responded. Additional History: You have only been working at the company for a few months, and this upcoming presentation will be the first time you are presenting your work to executives. You have been getting along well with your coworkers, and while things are collegial, you would not consider any of them friends yet. After talking to some coworkers, you learned that the Marjorie started keeping the only set of keys after another new hire was
