a) Raise the body
b) Hold the body in any position
c) Float the body to lower it under gravity
d) Lower the body using hydraulic pressure
e) Calculate the piston diameter using total load (payload plus body weight) and pressure relief valve setting. Assume that maximum payload is 110% of rated payload and body weight can vary by +/-10 % due to plate thickness variation and welding size variation
f) Calculate rod diameter assuming that both ends are pivoted and guided. Use factor of safety 3.5, and E = 2.1 X 1011 N/m2 .
g) Determine the line sizes for the suction, supply, and return lines using the following maximum velocity guidelines:
i. Suction: 1.5 m/sec
ii. Return: 4.5 m/sec
iii. High Pressure: 7.5 m/sec
