I would like you to pick a process with which you are currently involved. This could be the process you do at work or in some other organization.

Describe the steps in the process

Is there a process map or a written definition of the procedure?

What are the planned results of the process?

How do you know if the process is effective $($attains planned results$)?$

What does your analysis tell you about the current state of the process?

Where do you see weaknesses in the current state process?

What are your initial thoughts about how to improve the areas of weaknesses?

Pick a process that is important to what you do$.$ My goal for this exercise is to get you thinking in process terms about the things that you do$.$ As you begin to think in these terms, you will begin to see how the process can be analyzed and what data is necessary to tell you what you want to know about the process? If your CEO came to you and asked you to demonstrate how your process is effective, what would you tell her$/$him$?$ Also, what suggestions would you have for your CEO concerning improvements to the process.
