Program Overview
The presented problem at my organization is truancy. There has been an increase in absenteeism and the organization has proactively created an attendance committee to track and tackle attendance.The program consists of multiple stakeholders which includes dean of students, office managers, and social workers. Each member of the committee is assigned a specific grade for outreach. The grades are 5th - 8th, if the committee identifies students who are absent more than three days with no communication from family or a doctor's notes. There will be a follow up call and notes will be imputed on the tracker regarding communication. The tracker consists of absent dates, and the follow-up action includes reaching the families. If a student is absent eight (8) times, the parent/guardian will be called to school to meet with the stakeholders; principal, dean of students, social worker, and office manager.The Problem will be discussed at the meeting, and an attendance plan will be developed. The child is considered truant if a student is absent ten (10) times yearly. At this point, the student is at risk of not being promoted to the next grade. The parent/guardian will be called to the school to meet with an administrator. If a student is absent fifteen(15+) times a year, the school, as state-mandated reporters, must report this truancy and notify Child Protective Services.
