• Select a topic for research. This can relate to your current work place or to a topic that interests you.
• Formulate the topic as a hypothesis or problemclearly define the objectives of the research and:
• identify and list reliable, authoritative, relevant sources of dataqualitative and quantitative
• collect the data and collate it in a form that can be properly stored
• select the appropriate analysis methods or tools and apply them to the data
• use the analysis process to identify themes, trends, developments etc that are relevant to the topic you have selected
• describe the procedures you have followed and any relationships, correlations or conclusions that you have drawn from the data
• explain why you think that these conclusions are justified and consistent with the research objectives
• Write research report, explaining what you have done and why it was done. Use visuals and report formats that will be suited to the likely audience.
• Assume that you have been given two weeks to complete the research and to submit the report. Explain how you would ensure that you are able to meet the deadline for the report.
