Final Assignment Case Study: Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire Background: On 15 April 2019, a fire broke out beneath the roof of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris. By the time it was extinguished, the building's spire collapsed and most of its roof had been destroyed and its upper walls severely damaged. The 850-year-old Gothic building's spire and roof have collapsed but the main structure, including the two bell towers has been saved. French President Emmanuel Macron called it a "terrible tragedy".
