Case C: Bethany's Bruise

From outward appearance, the Franklins seem like most normal families. Both parents work, the three kids go to school, and the family dog, a German shepherd, stays home. The Franklins keep to themselves after the parents arrive home from work, usually by 7:00 P.M. The kids are usually alone between 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. Sometimes the neighbors can hear shouting, slamming

doors, and loud music blaring from the Franklin home after school, but they assume that with three teenagers inside, that is to be expected. Seeing that Bethany Franklin has a bruised arm, a teacher at school notices handprints on where it appears that Bethany was grabbed. When the teacher asks Bethany what happened, the girl says that it's nothing. A few weeks later, the teacher notices a cut below Bethany's eye and immediately calls Social Services. A Social Service investigation results in interviewing the parents, who deny any wrongdoing. Bethany refuses to reveal how she keeps getting bruises and cuts.
