Case study scenario one:

A father informs you, the centre director, that his daughter, who has diagnosed chronic asthma, needs to stay inside every time he (the parent) suspects that the child is becoming ill. At first you try to accommodate him, but with increasing enrolments this becomes impossible. The staffing problem has been explained to the parent but he feels that the centre should be able to provide services to children like his who have chronic health problems.

Find a media text that presents an education policy issue. Examples of policy issues might be funding, student performance, teacher accountability. These are ones that are frequently in the media, but be resourceful and look for something thathas plenty of substance and that you can apply your analytical tools to.

Identify:Identify the key stakeholders in this policy issue and consider whoseperspectivethe story is reported from. (what are the values, whoseperspective is absent -not presented.)

Discuss:Make a post on the discussion board that is a distillation of your thinkingabout the particular issue you have identified.
