(a) Sophia is in hospital for heart surgery and fears that she won't survive the operation. Her neighbour, Peter, visits her every day and agrees to feed her Koi fish back home. In return for feeding the fish, he persuades her to sell him her Kruger Rand for far less than its market value. Sophia has no other choice but to agree to the sale of the Kruger Rand as there is no one else to feed her Koi fish. (14) (b) Gabriel's insurance insists that he installs an alarm system at his house. Gabriel agrees that Safe Alarms will install an alarm at his house for R3 000 and a monthly monitoring fee of R400 per month. Gabriel is under the impression that he buys the alarm system. In fact, the payment of R3000 constitutes the installation fee only. Safe Alarms merely rents the alarm system to Gabriel monthly. (8)
