Question 4/Problem 4 Design a synchronous sequential circuit that generates the repeating sequence of decimal numbers 0,5,3,4,5,0,5,3, (a) Indicate all the inputs and outputs that are required to realise such a circuit. (b) Make a suitable state assignment to guide your design. Use 3 flip-flops to match flip-flops outputs to output numbers 0,3,4,5. Please note that as there are only 4 different states 2 flip-flops would be enough instead of 3 but then extra circuitry would be required to produce the values 0,3,4,5. (c) Write a state table to assist in your design. (d) Write a state transition table to design the sequential circuit using D-type flipflops. (e) Draw the final logic circuit that results from your design. Show the flip-flops interconnections and indicate any logic functions required for the inputs (no need to show the gate implementation of flip-flop inputs)
