Change and control are important concepts in business management. Managers are liable to encounter strong resistance to both and are given the difficult task in overcoming both. Resistance to change and control are similar in that they both can stem from insecurity and uncertainty. Though it is more likely that overbearing control would be a primary cause of this. Both issues are exacerbated by improper management styles, or improper focus.

Similarities in overcoming these resistances can be found in effective communication and properly educated and calculated response. Though far more understanding of methods to overcome resistance to change exist. Overcoming resistance to change is by far the more flexible and moldable when contrasted with the far less bendable necessities of controls. Overcoming resistance to control suffers due to "baked in" requirements and regulations that are inflexible.
