Make sure you explain how you link the Culture-General Framework to the case. The Persistent Client Our office evaluates heavy industrial business licence applications for our province. For three weeks there has been ongoing communication with a client who wants a new licence for his international branch company. In that time we have come to know more about him as a result of emails and telephone interactions. Our client is unhappy with his evaluation. We did not agree he had the qualifications and technical history to receive the licence to build a chemical factory in Burnaby. Our staff follow strict and well-established standards and protocols. They know these can be high stakes decisions for clients. Some clients are not happy with the results but we must maintain our standard. The client started to send emails after he received his negative assessment. He made many demands for reassessment and then escalated and complained to my Manager and finally Director. There were also a number of telephone calls where the client directly disagreed passionately and loudly with our assessment line by line detailing his experience working in 18 countries and running his start-up of 1200 employees. For him, these were proof to why he should be given the licence. Then an email came from a foreign government official in the client's country demanding a reassessment. We could not agree because of our professional ethics and standards in this matter. Our staff has experienced this in the past in situations with powerful and wealthy men and women from the region this client comes from. It can be frustrating but we need to maintain our standards and the integrity of our work and principles. Our rules are clearly laid out online and our procedures are fair for all people.
