Read the case titled "Odyssey Spec Analyzer."

As technical manager of NASAs Odyssey Spec Analyzer project, Joe Irons has battled schedule slippage, cost overruns, and low quality all attributable to the work of the network of contractors charged with completing the Odyssey project. Although Irons has succeeded in getting Odyssey built and onto the launch pad, NASA must learn from the Odyssey project in order to avoid similar problems in the future.

In reading the case, look for symptoms indicative of problem(s). Those symptoms may be of three types:

1. Statements from individuals in the case who state that a problem exists
2. Statements in the case that differ from what you would expect based on what you've read in the textbook chapters
3. Statements in the case that your common sense tells you are problematic
