Reflection Paper

The programs at the University are designed to help our students integrate classroom learning with real-world work environments. To ensure we are serving our students and that students are achieving the outcomes for their program, we ask students to reflect on the experiences of the term as part of the final course assessment.

Course Content: Describe the most important aspects of this course (INST541 - Information Security Policy) for you with respect to the content that was covered or activities in which you participated. Discuss the relevance and value or the practicum assignment with respect to your knowledge acquisition.

(About course)In this course, students examine the role of security policies, standards and procedures in addressing business and technical risks. Students evaluate the importance of information assurance policies and deployment plans as part of the comprehensive strategic plan and operational objectives of the enterprise.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course students will be able to:

Analyze how legislation mandates the need for policy.

Identify policy requirements within a given environment.

Develop policy statements that meet the identified needs.

Formulate an implementation strategy for the policy

Analyze the threats organizations face in their information technology platform

Develop an understanding of current counter measures able to protect the organizations information technology platform.
