Refrprop Project Part 2
Submit the following files:
1- A pdf file of your manual calculations,
2- The Excel file,
3- A pdf file with the values obtained in part 1a to f, and the graphs of part 2.
Brayton Cycle: Air enters the compressor of a Brayton cycle at 85 kPa and 10C. The compressor pressure ratio is 6 ; and the maximum cycle temperature is 1100C. The mass flow rate of the air is 100kgs. Assume the compressor is isentropic and the turbine has an efficiency of 90%.
Part 1: Solve this part manually, then using Excel+Refprop.
Determine:
a) the thermal efficiency of the cycle,
b) the power of the turbine,
c) the flow exergy at the inlet of the turbine in kJkg,
d) the flow exergy at the exit of the turbine in kJkg,
e) the reversible power of the turbine,
f) the rate of exergy destroyed in the turbine.
Part 2: Change the efficiency of the turbine from 70% to 100%(use 3 efficiencies between these limits), obtain the exergy destroyed in the turbine for each of these efficiencies and plot the changes of the exergy destroyed in the turbine ( Y -axis) as a function of the turbine efficiency ( X -axis).
