One topic I am pleased to have learned more about was data visualization. I believe that one day Ill enter a position where I will be required to present data or information and this course gave me the opportunity to research more of all the key aspects of it to keep in mind and what to avoid. While some information seemed familiar knowledge, some of it gave me a better understanding of how to effectively create a data visualization. For example, I now have a better idea of how to effectively use color and to keep in mind that certain colors can communicate a different message than what the presenter is trying to deliver. Because we sometimes have preconceived messages with certain colors, such as red being associated with negativity, using red for certain data presentations might come off as if Im showing the data in a negative light. So if I desire to use certain colors, I need to be aware of how and where Im using them.

Another topic that was helpful to learn more about was the security concerns with BYOD. I currently work from home and have been for two years now. In order to access my work computer, I log in through a software called LogMeIn on my personal device. The many risks and security issues that go into BYOD are helpful to keep in mind and to be reminded of. In addition, learning the 3 objects of data and information systems security, confidentiality; integrity; and availability, was very insightful to research since I complete my work at home on my personal network. It has helped me reflect on additional ways to keep my computer and all the information on it safe.
