replying to this disscussion post After thoroughly going through the provided list of skills, I believe that reading and writing skills, problem-solving skills, and self management skills are extremely important in any workplace. Whether it is one's career or one's part-time job to simply make time pass, those skills are imperative to have when working overall. I believe these skills are most important, rather than the other ones because over the years, I have enhanced these skills and have witnessed first hand the turn out. With these skills, communication, effective problem-solving and the process of finding innovative solutions in the workplace, adaptability, time management, organization, motivation, emotional intelligence, autonomy, accountability, and continuous learning are all able to be achieved when these three skills are deemed important in one's work or career path. From my first job at 14 to now 23, I have improved so much within my work settings. I believe this comes with age but it also comes with the adaptability to the given skills. One learns to assimilate to things that are expected of them but truly things that should be expected from themselves.
The steps a person is able to take to improve or these skills for their future career is embrace the strengths they already possess, adapt to the variety of challenges that are able to arise within a workplace, nurture relationships with others in and outside the workplace as strong foundations to relationships are key to longevity and effective communication, set goals for oneself, understand one's own emotions and compartmentalize them as they could be perceived in the wrong way, be patient with the change, and prioritize ones well-being as one cannot prioritize the necessary skills needed within their future career if they do not have a healthy relationship with themselves (Stevens, n.d.). To further build these skills in my life, I plan to continuously be open to further learning, problem-solving exercises, further self-reflection, better time-management, seek feedback about my skills and where I am lacking, and I am able to cultivate emotional intelligence by practicing self-awareness to further these skills in my future career endeavors.
