Respond sharing an insight gained from reading the post.

BASL often uses two hands to sign, while ASL uses more one-handed signs (Waller, 2021). BASL is described as having more flavor than ASL (Netflix, 2020). This just means that someone using BASL may have more personality in their expressions while signing. These differences came from segregation. White deaf students were pushed to learn oralism. According to Waller (2021), black deaf students continued learning with signing because the education system didn't care if blacks learned oralism or not. Because of this, BASL is closer to old sign language (The Language and Life Project, 2021). BASL and other ASL dialects show that being deaf doesn't mean you aren`t a part of other cultures, just like how someone from Alabama speaks with a different accent than someone from New York. Koren sign language (KSL) is likely to look different than BASL. The people around us, our culture, make us express ourselves differently. Each culture may prioritize different expectations for people. All these differences come out in our languages.
