Describe what your next steps are and how you execute these steps in order to deliver in two weeks. So, as the two members of the team are on vacation, what I would do is sit down and have a meeting with the remaining two on my project. As we know the time frame of this project is 2 months away. I would figure out what needs to be accomplished by all 4 members of the team and get input from the two members I have access to. Before the two members leave for vacation I would like to know where they are in terms of what they have done. Therefore, at the end of the week for the meeting, I can keep the higher-ups informed with the concentration on the team members who are not on vacation. I would remind them that the other two people are on vacation, so they are not able to work on their parts of the project while they are enjoying their much-needed time away. Describe how the delivery of information will be presented to the sponsor (do you tell the sponsor about your lack of accurate information, for example?) I would present like I normally would. I think transparency is important. I would again remind the sponsor that two members of the team are on vacation this week so I only have an update for the two employees who were working that week. I would be able to provide accurate information on their progress and then be able to hopefully see what is getting done and if that is according to the schedule. If its possible, I would like to give another progress report a week after this meeting as then we will have the full team back working all week together to then give a more accurate update. Remember - "time is money" and your estimate has to be as accurate as possible. How will you validate your data? I think the best way to validate the data, is to look at the data. Since I had two people go on a vacation, we can look at the other two employees, and track that progress. We will obviously be behind a little bit because of the two employees on vacation. I think the best thing to do is to make the sponsor aware. If we didnt account for vacations in the scope of the project as it was being drafted, I would spend the week getting a more appropriate scope set so everyone is up to speed as best as possible. As soon as the other two employees get back from vacation we can have a quick meeting just to make sure they know what they need to do, and to update them on the progress of the project overall. Obviously time is money but the number one thing I think I can do to be respectful of the time and money is be as accurate as I can be. That way if changes need to be made we can respectfully, and tactfully make them. I would love to know your thoughts class.
