1. What metrics in your course project can you use to measure the quality of the following? (Please provide actual metrics that you can use and measure) a. Deliverables With my project being a shed/ social area, I would measure the quality of the product by how accurate the laborers were with the design plan. I would check the strength of the flooring on if it would hold enough equipment on the shed side and enough people on the social area side. b. Scope To measure the scope of my project, I would refer to my WBS. As every step is completed, the task would be checked off to ensure 100 percent accuracy in the completion of the product. This will minimize any scope creep by maintaining the original scope layout. c. Budget To measure my budget, I would utilize my budget sheet and retain all receipts for the purchase of materials. This way I cant track and make sure that there isnt any unnecessary money loss. I can also make sure the laborers are compensated correctly based on the original hourly agreement. 2. Give examples of how the quality of your deliverables, scope, and budget can be diminished. The quality of deliverables can be diminished if there were defective materials purchased. It also could be diminished if the layout was followed properly, or corners were cut, and the final product couldnt meet the sponsors demands. The scope could be affected if there were any errors throughout the construction of the building which cause something to be redone, adding to the list of tasks. This possibly could extend the length of the project. The budget could be affected if the materials purchased went to waste by an error of some sort. Errors like miscuts, improper use, or damaged goods. The budget could also be affected if the scope is affected. Scope creep from errors extending the project will result in more spending on labor compensation. 3. As a PM, what would you do if you were up against a hard deadline for a project deliverable, but the quality of that deliverable was sub-par? There could be two routes I would take as a PM. I could request an extension of the project to ensure that the quality is to the sponsors standards, or I could request an increase in the budget to hire extra staff to work the project to the highest quality.
