RESPOND TO THIS DISCUSSION WITH YOUR THOUGHTS
Affirmative Actions is a defined as the right to have equality as a minority and improvements on equality for women in the economy. Women and other groups of minorities have been historically excluded from having the freedom and opportunities in the areas of employment and education. President John F. Kennedy signed this executive order into law in 1961.
In my opinion, there should be no expiration on the use of affirmative action. The law was signed and it should stay just the way it is. It is quite ironic that if you exclude the use of this law, that you will still want and need the help of the ones that you are trying to exclude. It seems to be a power and control thing. You will still need the money and recognition of women and minority group to support businesses in the economy.
So in other words, you want money and support , but dont want us involved in the process. This is quite a selfish mood. This is one of the reasons that our nation becomes divided and we fight against each other ,rather than work together. If you listen to some of the political views of the political parties in our government, many of them would rather go back to the oppressed slave times. But as we all know, many do not like changes, and a lot of the racial prejudice and discrimination is taught and instilled in these people. People are not born racist and being prejudice.
We can see this in children. Kids are the most honest on the earth. They dont see color or have prejudice unless they are taught and exposed to it. I myself being a woman and black african american women at that are strikes I have against me, But despite that fact that , I dont let that stop me in my endeavors and goals I have set for myself. I have experienced racial discrimination as well as inequalities in my lifetime. We can see a lot of this from the cases like Brown vs the Board of Education of Topeka, KS where the Supreme Court ruled that segregation in the schools is deemed unconstitutional.
The sad part is that minority groups are prejudiced in their own race toward each other. I have found and experienced that as well. This comes from lack of education and as it stated in the bible, "My people perish for the lack of knowledge. " My opinion on this is it does not matter what faith or religion one is, it all derive from the same book. It is just worded and translated in different ways. Some other cases that talk about Affirmative Action on both sides are Regents of the University of California vs. Bakke (1978) A white man had applied to the University twice and was denied. Despite the fact, that he had the academic requirements, minorities were given preferences. The Supreme court ruled that the university had to admit Bakke as they had violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. So as we can see, discrimination can comes in all forms and to anybody no matter what color, race or creed one may be.
