Guess who was covering the phones while you were outside. Mark said, yeah, I used to think that maybe I should take up smoking so that I could get in on all those breaks. Dan said, "you guys don't want us to smoke at our desks, fine, we don't smoke at our desks. But now you don't want us to go outside to take breaks to smoke outside. Ok, we won't go outside. But now you're trying to take away our e-cigarettes? I don't get it, either." Sarah said, in case you haven't notices, Joyce, if I can smoke these harmless e-cigs at my desk, I don't take as many breaks, so you don't have to worry about who's going to cover the phones. I think you guys are making a big deal about nothing." Mark said, "just because you're technically allowed to do something, doesn't mean you should do it. It's inconsiderate. It's inconsiderate. Ever get into an elevator with someone who just smelled like they ate a raw clove of garlic? That's what I have to put up with every day with you guys and your vapors. Dan said. it has nothing to do, it's a personal problem of yours. You don't like garlic. Kia said, I don't think we're making any progress here. Let's just try to speak calmly and rationally. And see if we can come up with something that we're all happy with, ok? Mark, let's start with you. If Mark and Joyce don't like our smoking at our desks, it offends them with the smell, maybe we can have a room that we can smoke in. maybe the break room or something like that we can. We're back to smokers taking breaks every hour. Joyce said, how is that a common ground? We have to sit at our desks and work while you go to your private room to have a break. Sarah said, I am going to lose my mind. Kia said, "let's not let our emotions get the better of us. We have been a team for years, and I know that we all want the best for the company, right?" Sarah said, Kia, with all due respect, I've done everything, this company has asked of me. And I followed every policy. You don't want me to smoke inside. I'll go outside to smoke. And that's a problem, too, because my productivity drops and I'm talking too many smoke breaks. If I can smoke my e-cigs at my desks, I don't take any more breaks than anyone else around here.
