That leaves 4 and that doubled is 8 and you add the 200 and 50 and 8 to get 258. For halving a number you do the same thing, kinda... so say you have 92 and you need to half it. So you can take the 90 and get half of that and are left with a 2, which is easy to take half of. Then you can just add in your head 45 and 1 to get 46. This is how decomposition works.
