Some examples of operating procedures could be Tagging Operations on the EMS and completing the system diary. Component 3 will focus on the normal day to day operations of the power system. This module will help prepare System Operators and Shift Supervisors to perform the normal operating tasks that are required in running the power system. It will also prepare System Operators and Shift Supervisors to ensure the power system is operated in the "best defense" position in preparation for outages and when emergency situations arise. Some tasks could include switching in capacitors/reactors and starting and stopping of units. The primary goals of the Normal Operations OTS Training are: 1. To enhance the System Operators and Shift Supervisors knowledge of power system principles; 2. To familiarize System Operators and Shift Supervisors with the day to day power system operating procedures; and 3. To ensure System Operators and Shift Supervisors can operate the power system in the most efficient and reliable manner
