Uber supporters argue that law enforcers also keep track of citizens, and the company intends to expand its market and business interests. Law enforcers monitor peoples location to maintain law and order in society. In 2016, attackers hacked Ubers cloud servers and obtained files containing records of customers full names, email address, phone number, and location. In addition, they received drivers information on pay, the number of trips made, and their license numbers. Inadequate data protection measures, which led to the data breach in 2016 contributed to privacy issues which affected both the drivers and customers. The hacking was caused by inadequate information security because the firm did not follow the normal operations of its data protection program. Consequently, critical data was stolen that compromised the safety of the customers.
