Ryan is a mechanical engineer working at a manufacturing plant which makes injection moulded

hemispherical cups. Before the cups can be shipped out the parts must be cleaned with an automatic

water$-$jet which removes any debris by shooting vertically upward into the cup. The water temperature

is $75C$ and initially shoots upwards with a velocity of $35$ft$/$s and jet diameter of $1$ inch which then

leaves the cup in the form of an annular ring as shown in Figure $1.$ What force must Ryan specify for the

manufacturing machine to apply to the top of the cup so that it does not move during cleaning?
