The notes that follow serve as a guide for analyzing the case.
Every case involves a problem or circumstance that necessitates a solution or course of action. A central issue is a condition that must be addressed. It could be a problem, and uncertainty, or simply a question, a primary concern that must be addressed, but it is not always resolved. Sometimes minor changes, enhancements, additions, or assignments are all that are required. The issue should be examined in the context of our subject.
When analyzing the central issue, the individual should consider the facts that led to this concern. One method is to look for obvious signs that are present. A decline in sales and an increase in the number of rejects and customer complaints, a low market share, outdated equipment, and other facilities, employee inefficiency, a lack of financial support, and other organizational issues are all worth investigating.
After identifying the problems, look for additional details such as who is involved, the cost considerations, how serious the problem is, and the managerial, marketing, sales,operational, financial, human resources, technological, or environmental implications.
Following identifying the central issue and establishing specific objectives, the next step is to investigate the areas of consideration. The areas of consideration are the facts of the case. They are dominant variables in organizational, local, and even global settings, and they may have contributed to or caused the central issue. These areas of consideration are linked in some way to any of the organization's various functional areas, such as marketing,finance, production, and operations.
To make the analysis more comprehensive and complete, a swot analysis is recommended. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are abbreviated as swot. Internal strengths and weaknesses exist within the organization, while external opportunities and threats exist.
The individual develops alternative courses of action after analyzing the areas of consideration. An alternative is defined as a choice to make or a choice to take. The following characteristics characterize alternative courses of action:
- a) They are all distinct, with no overlaps or redundancies. They are not reliant on one another.
- b) They set the time frame.
- c) They are suitable, dependable,realistic, feasible, and comprehensive.
You must present a minimum of three alternative courses of action. Ascertain that the courses are comprehensive and feasible to solve the problem.
Note: Develop the most effective, efficient, and feasible set of alternatives to solve problems within the constraints of the firm's objectives. Do NOT suggest conducting research, hiring a consultant, or forming a team or commission/task force to investigate the situation. You are the consultant here.
Making a decision entails making a judgment, a resolution, or a conclusion. A standardized point of reference can be used to justify the conclusion to be reached in reaching a decision. A good criterion is a combination of measures such as the risk involved if a specific course of action is chosen, the cost entailed in implementing the decision, the benefits obtained, and the case of implementation.
Following the completion of the evaluation and the conclusion, the corresponding recommendations can be made. Make your recommendations clear.
