1. Social media is powerful; it has given consumers the power of praising or complaining to a large audience. A consumer's feedback is important to a marketer. Consumers can do serious damage with a complaint about a marketer using social media, no matter how large and well-established the marketer is.

The Guardian, a British newspaper, did something very interesting to show the power of social media; they staged a modern retelling of the children's story of the Three Little Pigs and the Wolf.
