Statistics and Probability
A stable process has an input rate, Ri = 5 flow units per hour. It is a simple process with only two paths. All flow units start by entering the business and going to wait in line at step A. There are an average of 2 flow units waiting at Step 1. Then they do Step A, which takes 3.1 minutes (i.e., T = 3.1 minutes). When the flow units leave step A, 50% go to Step B. The other 50% leave the process. At step B, there is an average of 0.5 flow units waiting to start B. It takes a flow unit 1.2 minutes to do step B. When they are finished with Step B the flow units exit.
In this process, how many are in process at Step A? Your answer has to have an integer (which can be zero) and two decimal places. Do not have more than two decimal places.
