| Step 1 | Create a new thread and post a response to the question below: Give an example of an ethical or privacy issue that came about through use of an information technology? What changes would you recommend in order to minimize the impact of these challenges? Limit your response to 200 words. |
| Step 2 | Reply to another student's post answering the following question: Can you propose an alternative solution to the challenges mentioned? And, what is your opinion on how the company in question handled the issue? Please limit your reply to 200 words. Below is what another student wrote-- "Electronic surveillance is a god example. Monitoring people with technology even without our knowledge when using video recordings, photography and audio recordings as well. It is obvious that the main goal of using it, is to combat crime in addition to helping to prevent it. I am not opposed to the use of this technology as long as the data collected is regulated and kept really shielded with maximum privacy control, but the problem is that the information collected has a very high monetary value and it only takes one mistake for the collection of videos and audios to fall into the wrong hands. In order to ensure our privacy with the use of this technology, or at least have greater control over it, I would propose the forced need of a police warrant to run facial recognition software, do not allow powerful technology on when electronic surveillance is used, and prevent information from being stored in a cloud without any restrictions; electronic surveillance should not and cannot be unlimited." |
