Strategy for customer intelligence? What do you need to look into?

I got this assignment and presentation on customer intelligence and what I need to look into and develop? My prof said I need to come up with a strategy for a business and how we can go about creating a customer intelligence team! I have no idea cuz I previously never took any course thats related to strategy.

Assignment: You work at a manufacturing company (tech) that sells its goods/parts to other brands such as Apple, Panasonic, etc. You need to implement strategy to understand your customers better such as Apple so that as a manufacturer company you can understand your customer better and approach creating tech products to sell to these customers. (Your customers are brands and not people).
