Students with special needs and how they cannot express the work. I thought a student in my one on one group that if you had a word like panic, you would break it down by pan ic. You cannot leave the a by itself or the a would belong. So you need to break it up behind the consonant. My teacher said we need to teach the students the same way as they are not working on long vowels or open vowels yet. I am trying to explain to the teacher that I am teaching the same concept as long as I do not change the rules we are teaching the same. The student was able to break it down, however, not explain. He has the limited ability as most of our students cannot explain why. How to I address this as this is not a student that would be able to explain always as on occasions he would explain prior to getting frustrated?
