Time Study material (Werner, Chapter 1: Erasmus et al., Chapter 1) Study Material Outcomes Learning outcomes After completion of this study unit you should be able to: Distinguish between line and staff authority and provide relevant examples to explain the authority of HRD in the organisation (Werner, Chapter 1. p. 10) Describe, analyse, and differentiate between the three primary functions of HRD as identified by Mc Lagan, namely training and development (learning and development), organisation development, and career development (Werner, Chapter 1. p. 10-12). Analyse the "new learning and performance wheel to determine what HRD consists of (Werner, Chapter 1, p. 12). Suggest how HRD could play a strategic role in organisations (Werner, Chapter 1. p. 13-15, also cf Erasmus et al., p. 21-34.
