Study the photo on a hinge below. Then make a fully dimensioned and toleranced drawing on the
shaft to the hinge. Use the drawing form.
You should also present the solution and answers to two questions (on a separat paper):
a) What tolerance do you choose for the hole in the left hinge half? Explain the reasoning/
calculation behind your answer in a written document. You can support your
calculations by providing a tolerance sketch.
b) What tolerance do you choose for the hole in the right hingd half? Explain the
reasoning/calculation behind your answer in a written document. You can support your
calculations by providing a tolerance sketch.

The material of the shaft is "Stainless steel EN 1.4305"
To facilitate the insertion of the shaft, chamfer the ends of the shaft 0.545
Shaft diameter is 6 mm , tolerance h 8
The holes in the left hinge half are toleranced with tolerance grade 9. The tolerance is then selected so
that you get an interference fit (greppassning). But no more interferance than necessary.
The shaft holes in the right hinge half are toleranced with tolerance grade 10. The tolerance is selected
so that you get a clearance fit (spelpassning). The clearance schould be at least 0,04mm.
The reason for this is that the shaft can be pressed in, so that it is stuck in the left half, but the hinge
should still be easy to fold by means of the clearance in the right half.
No surface roughness indications need to be given.
