Amir, a postgraduate in management, joined a well-established organization as a management
trainee. Previously Amir has two years working experience as a management executive in a
small scale firm. When Amir joined the Organisations, his role as a management trainee was
not explained to him. The first few months on job were relatively stress- free as he was entrusted
with limited tasks related to his area of expertise that is management. However, he was gradually
assigned with various other roles, was required to coordinate, and communicate with diverse
groups of the workforce. The organizational members initially refused to cooperate and behaved
rudely toward him. The boss was a strict taskmaster who gives few orders and instructions. Amir
was scolded for the errors committed by other team members.
Amir did not give up and used his work experience to cope with the diverse expectations
associated with various roles performed by him as a management trainee. Amir learnt to
prioritize his work and gave adequate attention to marketing, human resources and public
relations job performed by him. Amir continued to put his best effort, even though others do not
appreciate it.
As the management trainee, Amir was required to do all kinds of managerial tasks from
conducting office correspondence conducting business meetings to solving the complaints of
customers and subordinates. As time passed, Amir become more efficient and performed various
roles in increasing effective manner. However, Amir is married and has two children, Therefore,
Amir was not able to give sufficient time to his family as he devoted most of his time working
even on Sundays. His family members thought that he has become a workaholic. Amir continues
to work day in and day out, looking for some kind of upgrading in educational qualification
which will qualify for a better job with less taxing work..
