The Basics:
The topic for the reflection will be:
How has technology changed communication.
This assignment provides students with an opportunity to practice organizing thoughts and information in a clear and concise manner for a specific purpose. It is also a first chance to work with APA formatting before other major assignments where APA formatting is ESSENTIAL to success.
Connection to Course Objectives:
- Organize information into a clear, coherent messages
- Compose written, spoken and visual messages for diverse purposes and audiences
Keys to Success:
- Reflection should be a minimum, 1-page double spaced (MAXIMUM 2-pages)
- Half of your reflection should outline some general observations on the topic, commentary, analysis. The other half should clearly connect the topic with your personal life (work, school, family, social, etc.). In this part you should be using the first person (use of I, me, etc.).
- Consider how you can apply Kolb Reflection Cycle to your response (See PPT slides)
- Although no research is required for the reflection, you may conduct a basic review of information on the topic to provide a wider base of context to the issue being discussed (newspapers, journals, blogs etc.). This may help to come up with ideas and add depth to your discussion
- Any information (direct quotes or IDEAS) from outside source, must be properly cited with APA in-text citations for specific information and a separate reference page at the end of the document.
- Reflections should follow all APA formatting guidelines (See APA Manual or Library, APA Citation Guide)
