The final project will be a course long project that will include the set up of a social site and at least four social media channels, the creating of a intended message and desired outcome, defining measurables to track in order to determine success, and analyzing the activity in order to determine if the outcomes were met. The student can set up this social site on many different free platforms, or the instructor may give them a specific one, but wordpress.org, blogspot.com, and tumbler are the preferred platforms because they are simple to understand and use. Once the student has set up their main platform they will want to set up a Google Analytics account and connect it to their main site in order to track their traffic. The student can set up any four social media channels they choose, or the instructor may give them a specific four to use, but Twitter, Facebook page (not personal), Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ page, and Linked In are the preferred. The student will only need an active email to set any of these above-mentioned platforms up and they are all free. The student will then want to decide on their intended message and construct the message for publication on their site and social media channels. The student will also determine their goal for the project. Is it how many followers they get, how many comments, how many likes etc. The instructor may choose this for them. The student will want to track the visitors on their site through Google Analytics, how many followers they get on all channels and be able to articulate what that means in term of reach. The student will also want to track what messages they sent and when to what result. All these inputs and outcomes are to be measured in order to determine if the project was a success and to be able to analyze what did and did not work.

Final Paper: Student will write up the findings of their project, success or otherwise, in a 3-4 page paper. This paper will cover set up, why certain channels were chosen, the strategy, did it work (why or why not), and what was learned about the activity.
