The first major step in the training process is the needs assessment. A needs assessment is the process of analyzing the difference between what is currently occurring within a job or jobs and what is required--either now or in the future--based on the organizations operations and strategic goals. How would you approach a needs assessment with an employee that was struggling for whom you were responsible? How would you sell the needs assessment to the employee as a step in the training process?
