The Logistics Design Process

Ensuring that resources $($EX$.$ materials, machinery, manpower, and money$)$ are utilized in the most efficient manner falls under the logistics design process. This wasn't always the case but recently organizations have realized the impact of logistics planning on reducing waste and cost, increasing productivity and efficiencies, to deliver products on time with increasing customer satisfaction. A world class logistics process moves materials and information throughout the supply chain to achieve that organization's objectives and goals.

REQUIREMENT:

The logistics function collaborates with many of business functions. Describe what business functions are involved in the logistics design process and how do they interact with each other.

HINT: The process starts with the Sales$/$Marketing function providing a forecast to the S$,$O$,$&IP team. The purpose of this exercise is to determine what functions need to be involved in sourcing the correct materials, machinery, manpower, and money. If possible, submit a relationship map of the process.
