There is almost as much written on the subject of motivation as there is on leadership. Google search on motivation and several hundred thousand links appear. So it is a topic very well researched over the years.

An interesting personal observation, using my grandson as an example:

Trying to get him to do his math homework was a constant chore. I was always having to check on him, as if he could get away with not doing it that is what he would do.

In contrast, trying to get him to stop playing his X-Box was almost impossible. It was as if the controller was glued to his hand.
