these passages below require analysis and breakdown
a) My favorite brick and mortar department store is JCPenny. Since I was little my parents would always take my siblings and I school clothes shopping there every year. Advantages it has over online retailers is that families can have personal experiences there and make memories. My family was middle class, so we always looked for affordable clothes and deals. An advantage of JCPenny is that we would get coupons in the mail and we could bring them in and receive a discount. Another advantage is that clothes can be tried on before they are bought and can easily be returned to the store if they don't work out.
A comparable online retailer is Amazon prime wardrobe. It is the clothing department of Amazon prime, so free 2 day shipping is a great advantage. Another advantage is that there are free returns, and now you can return items at UPS stores and even Kohl's.
b) The term "brick-and-mortar" refers to a traditional street-side business that offers products and services to its customers face-to-face in an office or store that the business owns or rents (Murphy, 2020). Quite a few brick and mortar department stores come to mind, some of which include Target, Costco, and Sams Club. All of the brick and mortar examples can be comparable to one well known online retailer, Amazon. Target, Costco, and Sams club are physical stores that sell a wide variety of items, ranging from food to clothing. With the launch of Amazon and its ever-growing business, they now provide anything form groceries to books and various types of clothing items. The main advantage of the brick and mortar stores would be the convenience of returns, which can be done at the convenience of the customers within the time frame of the convenient store hours. Another advantage would be the availability of trying on the clothing in store, to ensure the item is the right fit. An advantage of Amazon would be the convenience of not having to leave your home to receive your items. The advantages mentioned by both types of stores involved convenience, which is extremely important, especially in todays day and time.
c) I use Walmart and Amazon for making my regular purchases. Walmart is Americas largest Brick and Mortar store providing products like electronics , furnitures , clothing, foot wear, jewelry and toys.
In its store, a customer has the option to view the product and then buy it or they can order online for pick up. It also has the store layout designed in a way where it clearly lists the items available in each section making it time efficient and easier for customers.
Amazon accounts for roughly 50 percent of all e-commerce sales in the U.S. It offers all the possible products online. It also sells non-profitable products to attain high customer satisfaction and longevity in the marketplace. A customer searches for the product and selects the lowest cost available from the different sellers for the product. Once selected, the product is checked out and depending on the shipping speed selected, the customer receives the product.
What advantages does each have over the other for the company?
A Brick and Mortar store requires inventory available in stores for customers whereas for an online retail store there is no requirement to have inventory in hand and once the order is placed it can work with its suppliers to get the inventory. Theproduct is available at the time of purchase in Walmart store where as for Amazon even with expedite shipping the product is available in a day.
In store purchase can influence a buyer for impulse shopping where as people tend to visit the online store only to buy whats required. In a Walmart store ,a customer receivesimmediate assistance compared to online store where people have to wait either on call or chat for online assistance
While shopping on Amazon online, a customer saves time required to visit the store for the purchase. It also reduces operating expenses required to maintain a high end store and for training employees .It also allows customers to find the best prices for their product from various sellers.
How about for you, the customer?
For a working household, ordering daily necessities online and having them delivered at your door step is convenient since it saves time and effort to visit the store. For products like clothing purchases, customers want to view them in person before buying them to be sure about the size and quality of the apparel. Also visiting store with family and friends is an experience which people love to have.
Please explain if there a level of quality that one has that the other doesn't? If not, explain why.
Product and service quality are very important for online and in store purchases. Walmart and Amazon both have excellent quality standard defined. The aim is to maintain integrity and achieve high customer satisafaction.
