This is a chance to poke around some of the tools (CDC SVI, the SOVI out of South Carolina, the new National Risk Index (FEMA), and the data available from the US Census Bureau regarding Social Vulnerability to prepare for the project as well as a State and County Plan examples. Use the links below/on attached PDF to begin to become familiar with the four sites. Consider a counties Social Vulnerability scores/maps and information available on the SoVI site - make sure to look at the FAQ's page. Note where the SoVI and the CDC SVI pull their original data - connection to US Census information (see FAQ on US Census page too as site is being updated). Also remember to consider the origins of the Census data - when is it collected/updated for parts of the Census/complete update? As you're moving through the data think about what vulnerable groups are not included in the database? For example do you see data on numbers of prisoners? Visitors? Undocumented? Homeless?
