For the fourth year in a row, College Computing Club (CCC) will host the Computing Horizons Conference on campus. This conference provides cutting-edge technical training for students with a goal of increasing their job marketability. With the nominal fee that participants pay, CCC is also able to raise funds to support their annual club activities. Student participation has risen over the years from 25 to 220 participants, and the number of speakers has increased as well. Managing that growth and added complexity has been challenging for CcC in several ways. - The current system does not have a centralized place to keep information about confirmed speakers' contact information, session topic, speaking date, and speaking time. In the past, this has led to problems with developing the conference schedule: some time slots had too many speakers while others had none. In addition, speakers sometimes received multiple email messages that listed different dates and times, leaving them confused as to when they should actually appear. - The current system does not have an easy way to keep track of registered students - including whether or not they have paid. The CCC Treasurer estimates that roughly 60% of attendees pay each year, significantly reducing club profits. Tamara is Vice President of Education for CcC, and it is her role to organize the conference this year. She has decided to develop a software system to assist with conference management.
