This is your opportunity to display and apply your knowledge by responding to a potential client engagement. Imagine that you have been contacted by a representative of BP Amoco for a potential organizational development intervention within their corporate offices. It seems that their management staff is having communication challenges with their corporate offices causing some expensive mistakes in the form of missed supply orders. However, the employee who has contacted you has no confidence and little understanding of organizational development. It is clear she has been tasked to explore the option by her executive board. The BP Amoco representative states that she has not had an opportunity to engage an organizational development consultant before and wants to learn more before dedicating any additional company resources in a conversation.

She asks you to address the following questions:

a) What is organizational development and how long has it been around?

b) I heard something about a Systems Approach used in another organization. What is that? Explain how that could be applied (model) to our organization.

c) If we engage your services, what type of consulting process should we expect you to use? Describe the steps in your process.

d) How will the contracting process work? Explain that to me.
