This lab will be done using Logicly
Youre going to create a circuit which can take
two four-bit Nibble registers, ADD them, AND them, or OR them. Also, it can take -THE A INPUT ALONE-,
and NOT it. So your circuit will still have two four-bit Nibble Inputs, and a four-bit Nibble output, just like
the previous lab. Your OUTPUT will also be going to four LAMPS (as well as the 4-Bit Display from last
time), so that you can properly see the results of AND, OR, and NOT.
However, youll have two additional inputs, the CONTROL inputs. These two inputs will be
dictating WHAT your circuit should do:
00 NOT the A value
01 AND the A and B values together
10 OR the A and B values together
11 Perform ADDITION on the A and B values.
Create integrated circuits for the AND, OR, and NOT portions of the circuit, just as you previously
did for the addition lab. So for example:
1011 AND 0110 would result in 0010.
1011 OR 0110 would result in 1111.
0010 NOT would result in 1101(Note that for NOT it doesnt matter WHAT the B inputs are, it wont use
them)
The MULTIPLEXOR we worked on in class is the prime means of creating this simplistically and
efficiently. Make an Integrated Circuit of a Multiplexor. First build one that can take SIX inputs (two
control, four input bits), and select between them to make just ONE output. Make an IC of that single
Multiplexor, then combine four of them together to make a Nibble multiplexor.
Capture screenshots of the shown inputs, and the resulting outputs.
1: Input: A: 1101, B: 0111, CONTROL: 01
2: Input: A: 0001, B: 0111, CONTROL: 00
3: Input: A: 0110, B: 1000, CONTROL: 10
4: Input: A: 0101, B: 0011, CONTROL: 11
5: Input: A: 1011, B: 1110, CONTROL: 11
Please make sure you submit a screenshot of your completed circuit, and CLEARLY STATE the results of
each configuration of inputs
