This question presents an issue regarding privacy and whether or not you agree with the government's ruling. In 2019, the U.S. government fined Facebook (FB) $5 billion. The government ruling contends that FBs management evidenced unethical behavior by breaching users' privacy and did not adhere to 2011 agreement with the government. Do you agree with the government? Or do you disagree with the government's ruling and believe that FB was following its business model. In other words, FB allows users to use its platform to upload information for free and in return FB offers advertisers and others to tap into FBs vast network of over 2.4 billion active users. These issues are complex and tap into the concepts of ethics and social responsibility. In this DQ, you will need to do your own research about whether FB broke their agreement and/or conducted unethical actions towards users. When you write you probably should first explain what the 2011 agreement was, why the government came back after FB before you go into whether FB's actions were unethical or were just following their business model. Again, part of the grading is to see how you are able to integrate concepts in these early chapters on ethical behavior and social responsibility. Even if you disagree with the government, you can still write about how you believe the actions were not unethical and still use the concepts. Don't forget to integrate some of the concepts about ethics and/or social responsibility.

This is strategic management.
